WOW 2009

Hi Ladies,

If you missed the WOW Christmas party, you missed our plan for 2009, so let me fill you in. I'm very excited about it! :) Since our growth groups are so active and many of us are participating in a Bible study either within our growth group or within the church, we have decided as a women's group to get together every other month for a social time of fellowship. Each growth group will be in charge of planning the date, place, food and fun for their chosen month.

The months were chosen by growth groups at the Christmas party:
February-Brooks GG (considering Sunday, the 22nd, for brunch...pencil that in, and the Brooks growth group will give us more details soon).
April-Middleton GG
June-Cruz GG
August-Tolbert GG
October-Cox GG
December-Christmas party hosted by the Women's Ministry Team

I'm looking forward to watching this year unfold and seeing each of the ladies of the class put her stamp on our time together. If anyone has any questions, please let me know.

Sign Up Sheet for the Lazaro's

Hello Friends,
I just wanted to let you all know that I have created a sign up page like the one we used for the Giles Family.
I was asked to do this from several of you who really liked using it to know what meals were being brought.
If you signed up to take Angela and Tony a meal please ***Note from Editor, Please contact Theresa Cruz for the url.***
to find your day and go into the undo and change your meal type. The undo code is meals. There is also directions to their home there as well. We have just two days left to fill, this Wednesday and next. If you can not take a meal on the day you have signed up for will you please trade days with someone or let me know as soon as possible so that we can get the day filled in. I spoke to Angela today and life is back to her normal. She was rushing out the door to drop Chase off at a friends, and then take Cami to the doctor to have her weight checked. Tony has had to go back to work and she is doing the normal mommy duties already. What a go getter. Keep her in your prayers and thanks again for all your help.

Baby girl Lazaro has a name

Hello All,
I talked to Angela this a.m. She sounds good and said the baby is doing great. Her name is Cameron Maria Lazaro and they are calling her Cami. Angela said that Cami ate at 1 ish and then slept until 5 ish and was still asleep when we spoke at 8. They are coming home today. Chase has croup and is missing mom and dad a lot so please keep him and all of them in your prayers. Cami will have to be kept away from Chase until he is feeling better.

Baby GIRL Lazaro

Hello Friends,
Wanted to share the good news. Baby GIRL Lazaro, yes I said GIRL, made her way into the world today. She weighed 8lbs 13ozs and was 19 3/4 inches long. Everyone is doing great. As of 4ish they were still tossing around names.
Congratulations Angela and Tony !!!

Fruitful Faith

ABF Family,   Well we made it back from work/vacation. Dee and I were very blessed to spend some time relaxing and refocusing for the year ahead.  I hope everyone has a wonderful beginning to 2009.  Thank you to John and Jill for teaching while I was out.  I am sure it was awesome to hear them teach.   I am looking forward to catching up with everyone this Saturday.  I have attached The Word of The Week for your study.    Be Blessed,   Brian

Week 3 - Thee Word for the Week

I really enjoyed our time with one another this past Saturday. Let's continue to make the effort to get the most out of our fellowship with each other. As Joey has mentioned the past couple of weeks, please email him and let him know your thoughts on the things we are doing well as a class and the areas of improvement that exist. Be honest and remember to speak the truth in love as we pursue unity in Christ. All of us should be working toward growing in our walks with God and with each other. That growth will translate into a stronger, closer ABF. Let's remember to lift each other up in prayer this week.

Attached is the Word for the Week for Week 3 of our Living Authentic Discipleship series through the Book of Mark. Jill is preparing this week to lead our class in a discussion on Christ's undivided commitment and our commitment as his disciples. Please take time to also prepare for our fellowship and study with one another.

Prayer Request

Norm Smith, a member of the gang unit with Dallas was serving a search warrant in Southeast Dallas and was shot during the execution of the warrant and am sad to report that the officer has passed.  Please be in prayer for his family and his wife who is also a Dallas police officer. Please be in prayer for all the officers out there that work to make things safe for us. Brent and Sonja Cox

Evil Opposition and Athentic Discipleship

ABF Family,   It was great to see everyone that could attend last Saturday and look forward seeing everyone else real soon.  I hope that everyone had a restful and very blessed Christmas and New Year celebration.    We have begun to study The Book of Mark.  We will dive deep into this book up until summer.  Authentic Descipleship is our theme.  What a great way to start a new year.  Lets all ask the quesiton, are we authentic (act just like our Savior) and are we desciples (following His teachings)?  At some level I hope that we can all answer YES; however, growth is a part of the life journey.  So lets, dig into the word every day and grow in our Authentic Descipleship.    We were designed to Thrive!!  He came to give life, life more abundant.  Lets live that way begining now.  Be blessed and may you grow in God's love.   Brian

Welcome Back!!!!

PRAYERS:
Young-Brian and Dee are going to be out of town for 10 days, prayer for girls and Nana also Dee is leaving Jan.29th for Ghana Medical Mission, prayer for preparation for Dee and for family.
Cruz- Katelyn and Owen have strep throat, ear infections and sinus infections. Joe is just getting over having strep and prayer is for the kids to recover quickly and for Theresa to not get sick.
