ABF Family,
Thank you for your prayers. Blake is feeling much better and so far no one else is showing any symptoms. Cami had her swallow study yesterday afternoon and I am sad to report that she is aspirating. Many of you have asked what that means. Basically her suck is stronger than her swallow so when she nurses, she aspirates (or gets the milk in her airway.) It's just like when you take a drink and it goes down the wrong way, only she dosen't cough to clear her airway she just keeps on nursing. The risk of respiratory infection (RSV,pneumonia, ets) is a concern, so for the time being we have to thicken her milk and feed her a bottle, not something we are accustomed to around here!! Poor baby dosen't understand why Mommy is holding out on her and has been quite a bit fussier, also not something we are accustomed to. To perform the swallow study, they give her barium which is not easy on the digestive system so she is not a happy camper right now. We will repeat the study in 4 weeks and pray that she can start nursing again at that time.
Thank you for your continued prayers for our family as we adjust to our new normal!!
Tony, Angela, Blake, Ethan, Chase, and Camryn
